Find a repair shop after an auto accident
There are some things in life you often can’t control—for example, being involved in an auto accident. However, the post-accident process isn’t completely out of your hands.

If you have Dairyland® comprehensive and collision coverage and report an auto claim, we’ll ask whether you have a preferred repair shop. If you do, we can work with that shop throughout the claims process to help get your vehicle repaired and back to you.
Steps for finding a repair shop
1. Contact your auto insurance provider
Following the incident, file your claim. Our claims representatives will guide you through the claims process. If you already know the name of the repair shop you’d like to use, let the claim representative know. If not, take the following steps.
2. Get recommendations
Ask friends, family, and colleagues for repair shop recommendations. Personal experiences can offer valuable insights into the reliability and professionalism of local repair shops.
3. Check online reviews
Take advantage of online platforms to read reviews and testimonials from other customers. This can provide additional perspectives on a repair shop's reputation and performance.
4. Verify certifications and licenses
Ensure the repair shop holds the necessary certifications and licenses. Recognized certifications, such as ASE (Automotive Service Excellence), indicate a commitment to professional standards.
5. Visit the repair shop
Visit the repair shop in person to assess its cleanliness, organization, and overall professionalism. A reputable shop will be transparent about its operations.
6. Inquire about warranties
Ask about the warranty offered for the repairs. A trustworthy repair shop stands by its work and typically provides a warranty for the services it performs.
